Dear praying brothers and sisters in the Lord,
Greetings from Guinea!
I hope you are doing well. Christmas is always such a busy time of year but may it be a time of great blessing as well.
Guinea is not very Chiristmassy, but the spirit is what counts. We are planning and looking forward to our Christmas outreach service on Christmas Friday, December 25th. Thank you for your prayers.
Please continue to pray for the political situation in Guinea.
The military leader of Guinea, Dadis Camara, was shot in the head about a week ago during a failed assassination attempt by his aide-de-camp, which highlights the military infighting and political instability. Dadis went to Morocco for treatment and is recovering. The mood of the nation is anxious. Let us continue to pray for peace and stability.
The village youth soccer outreach is going well.
Three boys came to our last Sunday worship for the first time. About 40 boys came yesterday for soccer, more than we expected or could really accommodate. We are victims of our own success, so to speak. May this lead to more than just fun and games, but as we plant the seeds of faith in their hearts, may it bear fruit.
Please continue to pray for the health of myself and our staff.
After a recent follow up test, I am very glad to report that Mr. Benjamin and I are parasite free, but unfortunately everyone else has gotten new parasites, including Rebecca, Mr. Benjamin’s 4 year old daughter. I have come to realize that just about everyone here is probably infested with something and they do not pose an immediate health danger, but they do have long term consequences and it would be better to be free of them, to which end we are endeavoring.
Overall, my feeling can be summed up by Habakkuk 3:17-19
“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my savior.
The Sovereign LORD is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to go on the heights.”
Amen!
No matter how difficult or easy life can be, may we always rejoice in the Lord and go to greater spiritual heights in Him.
As always, thank you for your prayers and support, which enable us to continue God’s work here.
Joyfully in the Lord, Chris in Guinea
